Ethics & Archetypes:
Roles & Boundaries for Somatic Practitioners

Home Study CE/PDA Course

Are you a Seeker? A Rescuer? Is your highest potential aligned with the energy of the Magician? Or maybe your life experiences are training you to be a Sage?

Ethics & Archetypes will help you understand how your life experiences form the pathway to your highest potential as a massage therapist, acupuncturist, or shiatsu therapist.

This course will contribute to your journey as a conscious, awake therapist, aware of the boundary issues that emerge when you interact with your clients. Our clients are also dealing with emotions, experiences, and events that are shaping their development. The archetypes of therapist and client interact in wonderful and mysterious ways to assist both towards their destiny!

This course was designed for NCBTMB and NCCAOM re-certification for therapists who are committed maintaining appropriate therapeutic relationships and ethical boundaries.

Archetypes are universal energy patterns that influence our growth, development, emotional processing, and mental patterns.

Ethics and Archetypes explores four archetypal energy patterns of the client (The Child, Victim, Destroyer, and Seeker) and four patterns for the therapist (Nurturer, Rescuer, Magician, and Sage). Throughout the course you will learn how these archetypes in the therapist and the client can create challenges to our roles and boundaries.

Students have described this course as "transformational", "inspirational" and "life changing". Others (besides massage and bodywork therapists) will also enjoy the program.

When people come together in a therapeutic situation, inevitably various archetypal patterns will emerge which offer opportunities and challenges. Sometimes these are more significant in the peoples’ lives than simply the presenting ailment or complaint.

Both the client (patient) and practitioner (therapist) are, at another level, working out the basic challenges, questions, problems, and obstacles to growth and healing in their individual lives. These dynamics can sometimes lead to challenges to professional boundaries, and can cloud the practitioner’s role as a health care practitioner.

This course is recommended for:
Massage Therapists
Asian Bodywork Therapists
Acupuncturists
Energy-work Therapists
Mind-Body Somatic Practitioners

By taking the self=test as part of the course, you will see the patterns of learning emerge in your Archetypal profile. As you listen to the audio CD recordings, events of your life will take on new meaning and significance as the lessons that have shaped you and guided you to where you are today. Understanding these dynamics will help you better serve your clients, and map your future personal and spiritual development as you create an alliance with the dominant archetypes in your life.
