Why Continuing Education (CE Hours, CEU's)?

This page has lots of information that may be helpful as you are deciding how to fulfill your CE requirmenets.

Why do we have to have Continuing Education, also called CE or CEU (continuing education units)?

Massage therapy is a young profession. The industry is very dynamic, robust, and changeable. As massage therapists and bodyworkers strive to have their work recognized by other health care professionals, it is important that we continue to advance our knowledge and skills. When we graduate from massage school and enter into our first professional role, we are beginners. As we accumulate experience in our work, it is important to periodically return to a learning environment to network with other massage therapists and instructors, and learn new things to bring to our practice.

Continuing education is beneficial for everyone! Clients, massage therapists, shiatsu practitioners, and providers all benefit as we raise the overall excellence of the profession and its professionals.

What is Home Study Continuing Education?

Home-study courses are completed at your home or business, when it is convenient for you. They are self-paced learning that involve learning materials such as a book or manual that you read and then answer questions, or an audio or video program that you play, and learn from. Home study courses have an evaluation component to insure that participants meet the instructional objectives. Home-study courses for continuing education have become popular in many fields. Generally they are less expensive to take, and participants can go at their own pace. For massage therapists, bodyworkers, and acupuncturists, many classroom CE courses are on weekends, when one's massage or acupuncture practice may be most active! There is no lost income when you take a home study CE course. And when you purchase a home study CE course from me, you can phone or email for support.

If you have not yet tried earning your CE hours by home study, it is definitely worth a try!
